OUR STORY
LOORIG GLOBAL - INDUSTRIAL CASSAVA STARCH PROCESSING
OUR STORY
Loorig Global is more than just a business—it is a mission born from resilience, hardship, and an unshakable determination to create change. The story of our founders, David Loorig and Abraham Loorig, is one of perseverance, purpose, and an undying belief that the future of Ghana’s agricultural industry can be transformed for the better.
David and Abraham grew up in a small, obscure neighborhood in Ghana as part of a large family of ten. Their father, a hardworking peasant farmer, toiled tirelessly in the fields, taking on extra menial jobs just to put food on the table. Their mother stood by his side, ensuring that their eight children had the best she could provide. Life was never easy, but it was filled with love, sacrifice, and dreams of a better tomorrow.
Tragedy struck when David was only eight years old and Abraham was six—their father passed away, leaving behind a grieving family and an uncertain future. Their mother became the pillar of strength, working harder than ever to keep her children clothed, fed, and in school. It was during these formative years that David and Abraham witnessed firsthand what it means to go through difficult moments with littles-to-no hope. The country Ghana is no stranger to the struggles of local cassava farmers—people just like David and Abraham’s father—who would labor tirelessly only to watch their produce rot due to a lack of market access and proper storage solutions.
As they grew, the Loorig brothers pursued their education with an unyielding drive to make a difference. David studied Development Studies with a specialization in Community Development, and Abraham pursued Development Studies with a specialization in Environment & Resource Management, equipping themselves with the knowledge and skills needed to address the very challenges that had plagued their childhood. Their experiences led them across continents, with David currently serving as a Civils Ganger at Claret Civil Engineering in the UK. Abraham went on to graduate with a master’s degree in student Affairs and Higher Education from Ohio University, and currently serving as a Student Success Coordinator at Colorado State University, as well as a published author with Dorrance Publishing in the U.S.
Despite their professional careers abroad, their hearts remain in Ghana. Every summer, they return home to work on projects that uplift communities and improve livelihoods. With their deep connection to Ghana’s agricultural landscape and their expertise in development, they founded Loorig Global Industries—a company dedicated to ensuring that cassava farmers never have to suffer from wasted harvests again.
Loorig Global is committed to bridging the gap between Ghana’s farmers and the international market, transforming locally grown cassava into high-quality industrial starch for export. By doing so, they aim to provide farmers with a stable and profitable market, create jobs, and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
What started as a childhood dream to end needless agricultural waste has now become a reality—one that is set to change countless lives. At Loorig Global, we believe that sustainable progress is possible when passion meets purpose. Join us as we work towards a future where no farmer’s hard work goes to waste, and where Ghana’s agricultural potential is fully realized on the global stage.
